Dr. Huma Baqai - Associate Professor, Chairperson, Department of Social Sciences, IBA Karachi, Pakistan
Author of the book “Non-Traditional Sources of Conflict in South Asia”, Dr. Huma Baqai is an Associate Professor & Chairperson of Social Sciences Department at IBA. She is working with both National & International Media as an International Relations Experts and Political Analyst since 1999. Also has a signature show “Current Affairs” on State Television, PTV. She is also a certified trainer in liberal and political values and communication skills from the Gummersbach Academy, Germany. She has been involved in several training projects of the civil society, nationwide, with a focus on the promotion of liberal values and democratic norms. She has also been a part of several dialogue initiatives between Pakistan and other countries at civil society level. Her research over the last few years has remained focused on the societal issues facing Pakistan which includes topics like State-Society Relations, Religious Extremism, Fundamentalism and rising Radicalism. She is also looking at issues of Pakistan’s society and Pakistan’s democracy being in a state of transition. A parallel research interest is Pakistan’s Foreign Policy Analyses with a specific focus on Pakistan’s Threat Perceptions vis-à-vis India and the United States.
